All of The Well’s clinicians offer telehealth services. Telehealth uses secure video chat to provide behavioral health services to clients from the comfort and convenience of their own home. A few things to know about telehealth:
It is convenient- Telehealth provides more options for scheduling appointments throughout the day. It also helps clients avoid travel time to and from their provider’s office.
It is private- For many clients, privacy is important. Meeting your clinician on-line can increase privacy.
It works- There is a strong body of research that demonstrates that telehealth services are as effective as in person services for many mental health conditions.
All sessions will be completed through our premium video chat platform, offered through the Athena client portal. This is a HIPAA compliant system. Clients are able to schedule telehealth appointments, pay their bills, and have secure messaging and video chat communication with their providers.
Telehealth may not be appropriate for clients with chronic mental illness, or for clients who are experiencing acute symptoms. If you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
It is highly recommended that you attend your telehealth session in a private room or setting. Room lighting is an important factor in creating a strong video chat experience. A well lit room is important, and avoid positioning bright lights or open windows directly behind you.
Telehealth services are covered by most insurance plans. Our team will help you to understand your benefits.
You will need a high speed internet connection and a computer that is preferably no more than 5- years old. You will need a web camera and a headset with a microphone is recommended. Completing telehealth services over public internet connections is strongly discouraged.
